MIKE OLDFIELD - Amarok (1990) Full Album
Tucked away in Oldfield's catalogue are a couple of treasures that are not a variation on 'Tubby Bulls' and this is one of them. 'Amarok' is a single track of just over an hour long that should be an essential purchase for those wanting to show off their audio installation. This album has it all - acoustic, electronic, quiet, loud, subtle effects, sudden dynamic shifts, Margaret Thatcher ... everything! All played by MO himself with a warning on the back:
Not sure about the Thatcher bit. It could ruin it for me

Re: Your last listen
Better go back to English - where is "somwhere in Holland?"

Re: Your last listen
Camel - The Paris Collection
Camel - Chord Change (Live)
Due to the title one could easily make the mistake of thinking that this is some sort of compilation album - it isn't. This is one of Camel's Official Bootleg series, taken from a performance in Paris on the 2000 tour. The stripped-down lineup consists of Andy Latimer (Gtr. Voc) and Colin Bass (bass) joined by two young Canadian musicians: Guy LeBlanc (keys) and Denis Clement (drums).
Musically, the sound is light and fresh and recalls the early, pre-'Snow Goose' period where Camel had a looser, rockier edge. The liner notes describe a tour plagued by problems, illness and human suffering - and are actually quite hilarious! A very enjoyable and relaxing listen this, seriously well recorded (there is no mention of it - but the CD is HDCD-encoded) with a clear, open sound.
Nice !

Re: Your last listen
Guy LeBlanc had a short life.
He was an awesome keysman.
His cd, "Subversia" is pretty good, but where he really shone was with his group Nathan Mahl.
The "Heretik" trilogy is a must for those, like myself, into absolute Hammond organ overkill.
