Hooked the iEast M50 into the Upstairs rig. Ethernet cable to network and an optical cable to DAC (the streamer comes with a little adaptor for Toslink plugs).

Hmm. Not unpleasant but not mind-blowing either. I would put the SQ here at a par with an RPi / HifiBerry Digi+ - but it can only be attached via Toslink which is inferior (more jitter) to a coax cable.

That said, the SQ was pleasantly enjoyable - just not spectacular. Getting the M50 back into the kitchen and using its own analogue output, the resulting sound is more than adequate and, as said, better than Sonos.

Took me a while to activate the DLNA / UPNP access to my WD drive with the Twonky app. Maybe there is an app that needs to be installed on your WD - or specific permission given within the app for access to files.

Some of the conflicting advice I received concerned the merits, or otherwise, of Twonky so I don't think I will be going down that path. I am in no great hurry as nearly all my listening is via Qobuz and My Cloud is easily accessed by the DLNA apps. When in the mood I am prepared to spend some time on the PC, having made some progress. I think the essence of the problem is Windows being so crap.

We have been trying an 'audiophile' switch in my brother's system today. It's a NuPrime with NuPrime LPS and compared to a Cisco 2960 which was already in the system. To be truthful we could not hear any difference so it will be going back to the dealer.
We are waiting for a Network Acoustics Muon https://the-ear.net/review-hardware/net ... net-cable/ to try, very good reports are given on the net. Hopefully coming in the same package will be a couple of AES/EBU cables from Shunyata so will let you know our thoughts when we have tried them. One AES/EBU cable we would like to try is from Sablon, if anyone has heard this please let us know your thoughts.

The NA Eno has been in my system for over two years and the improvement was not subtle. I was not expecting it to be a keeper at the price, but I could not be without it. Interesting the company state that metal enclosures degrade sound. I am in agreement and so is NVA.

An EverSolo DMP-A6 has arrived today, it didn't even take me long to start streaming some music. I've fitted an internal SSD which had to be purchased separately, but have not transferred my files over yet, must read up on the instructions. Plumbed in to my brother's system for ease using wifi to connect and using the internal dac outputting through RCA's. It's never going to replace my brother's dCS Rossini, it wasn't purchased for that, but it sounds more than passable. When I've got time I will try it using digital out to my Soekris dac and come back with my thoughts. For now a couple of photos.

@slinger Four different VU meter options, it's a seriously well built piece of kit.

Very nice Ant. I have looked at this myself. You must try it streamer only into the dCS.

Just hooked it up through the dCS George and it sounds fabulous. I seriously don't believe anyone would be disappointed with this streamer/dac. I will compare the dac section with my Soekris at sometime and give my thoughts.

Very nice. Love the VU meters !!! 8-)

You might try experimenting with a wired ethernet connection and see if that improves on the Wifi.
