Ian Boddy and Nigel Mullaney 'Schemes & Ruses'(2019)

Image

Din records have a 25% discount running at their Bandcamp shop this weekend (code: springdin) and so I looked at a couple of their download-only releases and found this.

A duo-concert recorded in early 2019 in Liverpool and an exciting ride for EM fans. Mullaney's industrial sound-sculpting is wonderfully balanced by Boddy's melodic atmospheres and the two of them together create vast towers of sonic power.

The more recent Din downloads are available in 24bit WAV and the SQ is just mind-blowing.

More Curtis Mayfield. Superbly. Drug and prostitution funk.

From No thing on me (cocaine song)

"I've met many people over the years
And in my opinion I have found that
People are the same everywhere
They have the same fears
Shed similar tears
Die in so many years
The oppressed seem to have suffered the most
In every continent - coast to coast
Now our lives are in the hands of The Pusherman
We break it all down
In hopes that you might understand how to protect yourself
Don't make no profit for The Man"

RIP Curtis.

Lyonel Bauchet 'The Secret Society' (2011)

Image

Another Din Records download-only release. This is from French synthesist Bauchet who is mainly busy with film and TV work. His instrument of choice is a modular Buchla 200e synthesizer, very expensive and extremely difficult to master. Buchla synths were developed at the same time as Moogs and are highly regarded.

This album is classic electronica, all bleeps and bloops and rolling sequencers. But the recording quality is absolutely astonishing and it is an enthralling listen.

This could well join my list of favourite albums. :music-listening:

Ian Boddy 'Liverdelphia' (2013)

Image

Lovely music from synth-meister Ian Boddy compiled from 2 related concerts in Liverpool and Philadelphia where he played the same set, then selected the best versions for the album.

Fine atmospheric EM with Boddy's trademark grandeur, atmosphere and melody. What else can you say ... Oh yes, it's brilliant!
