You think music is not judged by enjoyment?

I'm sure we all set up our systems to ensure the maximum "enjoy" factor, but does that imply accuracy ?

Some people prefer old classic valve amps because of the "rosy" presentation, but is it accurate ?

I don't agree with you there.

So, people who enjoy listening to an LP12 are listening to "accurate" music ?
You place too much faith in the word accurate, I thought we had established it resembled a piece of string, so let people put what sort of knots they want in it. Then disagree with them if you want, and I fundamentally disagree with the LP12 knots.

That is all I do, I couldn't give a shite what test equipment tells me apart from the thing works and is safe. So you lot are buying the one *I most enjoy* so you obviously agree with the placements of my knots. Me I don't see them as knots I see them as me creating musical accuracy. Soooooo in my mind accuracy and the one I enjoy the most are the same thing.

So I counter your Coblers with Bollocks

Does it matter, ultimately? If the rosy presentation gives you the most enjoyment of your music...so be it. Not my cup of 'rosy lee', though...

For me it's just about whether I relax and enjoy the music (relaxing can also include jumping around playing air guitar  )

My system is 'accurately enjoyable'...

As to spelling optician - English is no longer my first language and the computer's spell-checker is not to be trusted.
It was your speeling of philosophy That I questioned.

So an Optician could discuss "realists philosophy" then?

No I'm not, but then I doubt anyone can claim to be - outside of a live performance.

Point is, I am enjoying the music which is reproduced in my living room. Also, I must be quite happy because I am not continually "box swapping" or looking for "upgrades".

A joke? Possibly two jokes?

There are no jokes in philosophy. Nor are there spelling mistakes. So if we use a little metaphoric licence then we can say that opticians cannot discuss philosophy (the love of wisdom) as they would always be seeing literalities.

By the way, I do hope you aren't an optician, for then I would owe you an apology. That was quite an accidental trade I pulled out of the box. Cobblers would do just as well, as they are always hitting the nail on the head.

And you did PM the Doc to explain

1. there was no ad hominem in my contribution that was deleted as no person was discussed or insulted.
2. the post was styled to Lurcher and Lurcher alone - as it was part of a longer ping-pong between us

The love of truth would dictate that action.

Alas, I think you are right.

Must get on my way then. New global villages to visit. New writes to be wronged.

Bye now.

To me the less that gets in the way of the signal path the more accurate a system is. It is as simple as that and is the NVA philosophy. Also, to me, the more accurate a system is the more musical it is. But musical is a subjective term and open to a lot of interpretations and also abuse. This was taken to extremes by the Glasgow mafia flat earth brigade who also came up with the PRAT nonsense to further muddy the water. It boiled down to concealing the coloration and masking of detail of their products which were being hyped in the press and pushed by dealers.
