Tried that it did not work* . As pictures show it is now on top of my heavy storage unit laden with lps'. it also sits on top of wooden box filled with sealant , then sand and 14 tennis balls .

In terms of sound and isolation of the needle from toddler dq's dancing this as been the best solution.

* my floor is very very springy .

Decorative patio stone tiles, more money, more attractive. There are some beautiful Italian fired ones, they are like works of art. Or marble or slate.

Use slate plinths from your local stone merchant. Very wife friendly!

The way it is done in the far east and the USA makes far more sense. everything between the speakers as on a stage.

I am not sure that sitting the Hi-Fi in front of the gas fire and TV would work very well.
