I will have to do a Savvy style list, albums that were significant and opened the flood gates.

1) The Police Zenyetta Mondatta - the first album I bought
2) Aerosmith Pump - I heard Love in an Elevator on the radio and loved it. Bought the album which led to their 1970's output which led me to the biggest influence in my musical life Led Zeppelin
3) Herbie Hancock Secrets - my introduction to jazz funk / fusion. Led to all sorts of discoveries including Miles Davis, Return to forever, Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra,.
4) Blue Note Blue break beats volumes 1-4 - my intro to a wealth of beautifully recorded jazz albums
5) Abba - any album. My mum played them to death when I was little. They are ingrained in me , in a good way. Makes me feel very happy when I play them and remember my happy childhood

Vol 2

I mean, how can I do an all-time most important list without the following:

King Crimson ' In the Court of the Crimson King'
National Health 'Of Queues and Cures'
Gang of Four 'Entertainment'
The Enid 'Touch Me'
Comsat Angels 'Sleep No More'
'The Return of the Durutti Column'
Joy Division 'Unknown Pleasures'
Kate Bush 'The Dreaming'
Genesis 'Lamb Lies Down on Broadway'
Tangerine Dream 'Force Majeure'

I reckon if I was really pushed I might be able to limit my most essential albums to a Top 100. But it still wouldn't be easy.

and it would probably change at least once a week

From your first list I took Judy Tzuke up to Savvies last time he had a get together I attended, it sounded terribly dated  :epopc:

Hey I think I announced at Savvies that Judy was one of my fave's and then slowly curled up in shame as I realized just how wrong it actually sounded on the day   I actually thought God I wished I had played that the night before setting off for the bake off as I probably would not have taken it

So did you pick Judy out for your list based on a recollection of how it sounded as I did, or have you actually played it recently..........????

I chose one of my albums (Santana Abraxas) as my Classic Album choice on another forum I frequent where the "lads" then comment on your choice of album.

I guess most of the other lads come from a slightly different generation than I do, and it was roundly dismissed as CRAP

Here’s my all time favourites that show how shallow, superficial and uncool I am.

Slade - Slayed
T-Rex - The Slider
Alice Cooper - Love It To Death
The Sweet - Sweet Fanny Adams
Showaddywaddy - Step Two
Clifford T Ward - Home Thoughts From Abroad.

Nostalgia.

Judie Tzuke. Lovely lady with a great voice. Her music was very important to me through my teens and twenties. Saw her in concert many times - even got on the guestlist for some gigs!

The only album of hers that I have played recently is the more synth-based 'Ritmo' and I believe that 'The Cat is Out' is due for imminent remaster/reissue.

Will give 'Shoot the Moon' a listen soon, see if it sounds 'dated'.
