DQ has said that he owns an ultrasonic cleaner, knows how much it cost, and likes it.

What do you think he doesn't understand about that?

Like DQ, I purchased a cheap 6l Chinese ultrasonic cleaner off flea bay, made up my own solution from a recipe on DIY Audio and made some crude " supports" from some spare wood. The LPs rest on a dowel and are clamped by cork Ikea coasters.

I clean 2 LPs at a time rotating them by hand for circa 100 seconds per quarter . The machine is very noisy so I always wear decent ear defenders. The cheap machines are ok, but I would prefer a better used British or German unit but the price of these has been rising steadily on fleabay for a few years. At the end of the cleaning cycle I spin the wet LPs as fast as I can which helps to disperse the cleaning fluid which for the most part is distilled water.

Its a boring job but I only clean 6 to 10 LPs in a session and I don't have 100s to clean so I am ok with the task. Its not foolproof but its certainly value for money and it definitely improves the listening experience.

In my experience putting clean records in a rack and air drying is sufficient. Anybody want to have a wager trout pout can't tell the difference between this and his favoured 2 machine clean.

I’ve never used one, just going off other advice I’ve recently received.
Still forming opinions, and deciding best way forward.

If I already had a vacuum RCM (which I do), I would use it for drying.

The question, for me, is would an Ultrasonic do a better job of the wet cleaning?

There's no way to prove it, either way.

But arguing about it, gives some people something to do before they die. Me, I had a child and a nearly fatal brain bleed at 49. That's given me enough to do.

I suppose you could randomly pick 5 records for wet cleaning 5 for ultrasonic and try and gain a picture of how they did. But my guess is that you simply won't be able to tell.
