Terry, you can still use YouTube with Pi/Volumio. One of the updates for Volumio broke it but there's a "fix" as long as you don't mind getting your hands metaphorically dirty.

Hi, think I'll go for the chromecast as it seems to be the simplest solution plus cost effective for the moment and see how it goes. As I said only use in the we small hour's at low levels.thanks for all the advice , off to eBay now to get bits, bye the way Daryl a house on YouTube features some great guest live in his studio, if that's your thing.

For streaming fans, Amazon are launching a new HD music streaming service that will offer FLAC up to 24bit 192 kHz quality (wow!).

Quite a bit about this across the forums and comments about SQ and the catalogue are generally favourable. It is also significantly cheaper than Tidal and Qobuz. The big downside for me is that it is not supported by BubbleUp. Dont know if this will change.

Have to say that I did not see it coming and it is good to see lossless streaming from a big player. I wonder if Spotify will follow suit and if Tidal and Qobuz will be forced to reduce their prices.

I would be surprised if Spotify went HD but this could well have an effect on Tidal and Qobuz as you said.

I am not Amazon's biggest fan ( based on multinationals dodging tax) but I will probably give this a go because I've found Tidals tech support to be slow and sometimes clueless.

I am far from Amazon's biggest fan and am in consultation with them about Amazon HD compatability with BubbleUp and my Sonore microRendu streamer. I received a response containing standard text which largely missed the point. So much for their technical support. I have gone back to them simplifying things as much as I can. I made the point that BubbleUp can access the Amazon cloud.

Had a more informed reply from Amazon confirming that their streaming service cannot be connected to my streamer. They said they would look into making it more accesable, but I am not holding my breath.
