It wouldn't let me log-in, kept saying page wasn't available, I moaned at Terry and 10 minutes later it let me log in.

Good.
The changes to the server settings make the path simpler. Consistently quicker response times should be one outcome.
Google Fetch is now getting a fast response from the server (it was hanging for hours previously). Unfortunately, the fast response is 'unreachable'. I think I have narrowed this down a problem with the robots.txt
When TB is back online he can make the necessary changes to the robots.txt file and I reckon we will be much closer to connecting with Google...

We haven't got it yet and we lost it last year and I have been moaning about it ever since. It is only now we are *beginning* to solve the problem. For months I was told the problem didn't exist.

I still think we were fecked with, call it paranoia if you want, but too many daft things have happened. Someone hacked into us.
