Look at the treatment of Steve Toy and many others at his hands - I describe the man as an evil shitbag, and I mean it.

There is always a point of drawing peoples attention to bullies.
So if you and Dave Cawley have been libelled, why not sue the libeller? Surely that would far more effective as a deterrent than slinging insults over the internet?
More aggravation and a lot less fun.

As I'm the new boy I had better introduce myself. My name is Mike. I was a Naim user for nearly 30 years and then discovered Teddy Pardo and now own the full T.P. dac and pre/power combo. I have heard NVA and that was at a show back in the 80s. I liked what I heard but being a Linn/Naim junkie my head was too far up my ar5e to realise that there are other high quality manufacturers.

My turntable is a Rega P9 with a Goldring 2500 into a Rega Fono and the the Teddy pre. I realise that the Fono is the weak spot and the NVA Phono 2 looks like it could be a contender. I don't want.to ask the Doc for a dem as I don't want to waste his time. Instead of putting up with me he could be building an amp and making a customer happy. So is there anybody in Essex who.could.give me an introduction to NVA. I am more.than happy to bring my T.P. for a bit of a bake-off.

NVA does a no risk no cost return service, all you need to do is commit a credit card via Paypal for a month (or less). I would much prefer for people to actually order and try units in their own systems. People seem to feel a conscience that they may be returning it and are worried about it - IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER - it is not a problem, returns are built into our business costs, which are 50% less than other manufacturers as there are no retailer to slurp.

Hello all.

My name is Kim (or Dim if you're called Jammy). I'm originally from Accrington in Lancashire, but after drifting all over the world, settled in the Scottish Borders south of Edinburgh where I work. Originally a psychiatric nurse, I migrated into computing some 25-30 years ago. Like one does..... Now look after computer systems for a software company writing for the Petroleum Industry.

I've been posting on this forum for about 3 months now, but have been familiar with NVA since the early 90's when I got hold of a second-hand NVA pre-amp which I then upgraded (via trade-in) to the new passive unit after talking to Doc on the telephone for half-an-hour or so. To finance a 12-month US tour I sold all my NVA kit to a Japanese engineer  I met whilst working in Japan.

Recently I got a reasonable bonus so decided to completely re-vamp my collection of odds-and-sods. I remembered dealing with RD all those years ago, so decided to have a look at modern NVA kit. I started with an AP10P the quickly swapped for a pre-power combo. Now I have a Rega Apollo-R CD with NVA pre-amp, headphone-amp, twin mono power and cube loudspeakers... Oh and a Quad radio and Sennheiser 'phones..... all hooked-up with Sound Pipe and LS3. Passed-on all my old kit to my teenage daughter who's now at Ballet School in Argyll for 3 years. :(

I'm really a music lover, rather than a gear-freak. In the same way I love mountaineering and cycling rather than simply owning all the Goretex and Lycra! However I just love my NVA hi-fi, the way it looks, sounds and how it makes the music make me feel..... That's Faure, Rachmaninov, Vaughan Williams, Goldfrapp, Foo-Fighters, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin.... You get the picture.

This forum is fun....
Primare CD22. Primare DAB/FM radio. SSP to NVA AP70 and AP10H(JS) with Denon AH-D7100's. LS5 to Cube2's.

Came to Holland about 23 years ago, felt at home here and stayed.

Bought my NVA amplifier in 1985 from Huddersfield HiFi - the preamp has a metal case with huge Volume knob, features an inbuilt phono stage and a Tape Monitor switch!! The power amp is also in a metal housing and has a rating of about 40W (I think). Also says 'Made in Peterborough' on it and was the first model with the power switch on the back (and not a red LED switch on the front) and a DIN power output socket for running the preamp. So if any hifi historians know the model numbers to these, please tell me.
They should probably be in a museum somewhere but are still in daily use - the preamp has now been relegated to a phono stage running input to a new P50sa which has revealed that the old power amp can still amaze with its control and detail (this due to advice from the eminent Mr. Dunn - he was, of course, completely right).

I am a bit of a music fanatic and my tastes run from Monteverdi to Metallica via Mingus (sort of), I also sing in a classical chamber choir and can regularly be heard playing punk bass-lines on an electric cello. Reading this back it looks like I might be completely bonkers - well, hell. Maybe I am.

P80 / A40, good to know they are still running well after 30 years

AND note no need for a high priced bullshit service or cap change  and you have about 80% of what the latest ones are capable of.

We are all bonkers here, join the fun

Thanks for the warm welcome.

It was by following this forum that I have begun to understand that a stereo system is not just a collection of parts, but a single conduit that 'breathes' the music out.

I always knew my NVA was good, but it has been abused by my own ignorance, the worst was the original 200-strand Monster Cable which it really didn't like. Never really understood the influence cabling has on sound, until relatively recently.

Looking forward to following and participating in the ' lively' discussions here.
