A blues bargain

Unread post by slinger »

I just picked this up from Amazon, a triple CD set plus a DVD, for the princely sum of £9.09 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mark-Selby-Box- ... 00IFTU120/

Mark Selby was a new name to me but he's well worth investigating if you like blues. His acoustic playing reminds me a little of Keb Mo and a little of John Hiatt without really sounding too much like either, and he's a fine fingerpicker and slide player too. He strays into Country in places, which is not surprising considering he's based in Nashville these days but you can tell he's a blues man at heart. For under a tenner do yourselves a favour and give him a try. Oh, and there's a rather good acoustic version of Whiter Shade of Pale on it too.

There's some of his electric stuff on his site... http://markselby.com/media/videos/

I've found Whiter Shade... here -

and there's plenty more on YouTube once you get past some bloody snooker player. If you're interested I suggest you search for Mark Selby blues
