Re: NVA Phono 2 MC
How much gain do you need?
I use my Phono 2 MC with a Linn Troika cart and it works very well indeed.

I think I might be in the HiFi trade.
I am not currently seeking treatment for this.
Current System: Linn LP12 Lingo Ekos Troika, NVA PHONO2 with BBPSU, NVA AP20 (White), Quad ESL 57s &/or NVA Cube3s (White)

Re: NVA Phono 2 MC
Plenty are using the original SPU (around 0.18mv output) with the P2, and there is more than enough gain.
Gain can be adjusted inside the P2, but the only cart I've known to need it is the Audio Note IO 1 - around 0.04mv output.
OP - look through the forum archive - do a search. There is plenty of info in there for you to get an insight into the P2 design.
