Ok so this is not a thread for Tories to own up to a strange compulsion to view tractor websites or the like.
Most of us like to think that our musical tastes are 'cool' or some such definition. However hidden in amongst ones professed appreciation of Stockhausen, we all must have a band, or artist that you know you shouldn't like, but do.
For me it's Rammstein. I have many, many of their albums and I'll freely confess that they are all pretty much interchangeable. Formulaic doesn't really begin to cover it.
However live they are a rather different proposition, quite frankly it's just a ludicrously over the top gothic pantomime, mostly celebrating just how versatile German sausages are. Again though this goes completely against the grain for what I normally like in a live performance, namely spontaneity, here there is no room for that whatsoever within the precisely choreographed show. For all that though I love them. To me they are just so over the top it has to be a self parody, but whatever it's meant to be I find it strangely hypnotic.
If you haven't seen them live then check out Live in Paris on Amazon Prime, you can pretend that you were watching the stone Temple Pilots if anyone catches you.
So what is your No 10 gathering that wasn't a party?

"Sky" is a band that comes to mind. I've got all their albums but so many people dislike them for being neither classical nor rock, when, in fact, they're both ...and neither.

Dude? Emmylou is a Goddess and all of her musicians are demigods, at least. Albert and James are definitely Gods in their own right, and Amos Garrett is bloody close.

Re: Guilty (Musical) Pleasures
It's weird but I couldn't tell you anything at all that DC did, somehow he passed me by. saying that David Essex and the Bay City Rollers fall into the same memory black hole. They must have all been on TOTP, and I know I must have seen them, but as to what they did - nada..
It's funny our friends are more concerned about my obsession with Zappa/Gong/Hawkwind but I'm sheepish about liking Rammstein. Hey ho..
