Have been thinking about the tranquillity thing. Using ssc from phono to ls1 and cubetts. At vm540ml would like to hear one as I like the At 95 paratrace I have now. I know It really isn't necessary, but I cant help being curious
LS3 or (especially) LS5 will give you more bass and scale compared to LS1, but if that is not currently lacking then no need.

At £200 to £300 I have found moving coils to have a different presentation to moving magnets, but not necessarily more enjoyable, overall. At around £500 plus that starts to change, for me, and moving coils have an edge in all respects.

15 years back, I put an Origin Live DC motor on the (pre Cirkus) LP12 I had and it was a big improvement but a tad noisy. I imagine that issue has been fixed by now.

There are loads of cirkus on the market as lots change for a Karousel.

The dc motor thing is likely to be over budget. Not only do you need the motor but a power supply as well. The mober ones are highly regarded but way over budget.

Really don't want to go down the cirkus route, didn't like it. As for motor change I think your right, to expensive. Beginning to think , ls3/ls5 or cartridge, At vm seems appealing. At the moment I am really enjoying what I'm listening to via what I have, pretty basic for you guys I suspect. A bit of a revelation for me. It would be nice to find that little tweak though

I will give you the money if a moving coil ain't the best you can do.

Hint. There are several good moving coils which are just above budget straight from Japan.

DQ, really don't want to go there with my budget. Just got rid of that expense and everything it involves. I believe (think I know) it works just cant be bothered or afford the hassle anymore. Neither am I sure my humble Lvx basic would do a mc justice. Having just gone back to "basic" for those very reasons. However I do appreciate what you are saying. So far I think its going to come down to cables or cartridge I think :-? Probably cables ls3/5 dependant on cost, but never say never eh?

Latteman's advice is the best, put your Linn up for sale and see how much you can get. Start a fresh with a Lenco or even another brand. I sold my Linn and with the money purchased a PT and NVA system.

If you still have a Valhalla on your LP12, try a Heed Orbit - 45rpm at the flick of a switch and I thought it sounded more stable/"solid" presentation.
LP12, Ittok, DV10X5, Phono2(twin supply), P50SA , Art Audio Quintet, LS5, SSC, Rega Ela mk1
