Those of us stuck at home - with only a heap of favourite old albums for company.
So what are the fave spins for the average HFS-er?
Let's try a swap-list of classics that none of us should/could be without.
Rules:
10 albums from which everyone can remove ONE album at a time and replace it with a favourite of their own choice
Preferably stating why the new choice is better than the album it replaces.
Easiest is to quote the previous entry and then delete all the quote gubbins, just leaving the list and your own comments.
All clear
Then we'll get the ball rolling with a list of the old chestnuts that we all know and have played to death:
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells
Supertramp - Crime of the Century
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
The Beatles - -Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
The Doors - The Doors
Remember - you can only change ONE album per turn.
Eventually we will have the ultimate HFS favourite album list.

I've exchanged Brothers in Arms for Aladdin Sane. I've never been a fan of Dire Straits although Brothers in Arms is a great album and I have got copies of it. Just not my cup of tea I guess.
Aladdin Sane was the first album I ever took proper notice of, my brother bought it when it came out in 1973 and played it a lot. the title track is the one that hooked my, at the time, nine year old mind and I've always had it in my personal top 10. I know that many people feel it's not as good as Ziggy or Hunky Dory (which are also in my top 10) but it's the emotional attachment as well as the music that makes Aladdin Sane my own number 1.

David Bowie - Aladdin Sane
Dire Straits - Alchemy
The Beatles - -Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
The Doors - The Doors
Dire Straits back in. I'd actually choose quite a few of those bands, but different albums.
I've just compiled my own top ten, purely for my own amusement, but to make it interesting (and bloody difficult) I picked 5 "modern" and 5 classical. I also cheated to a degree by allowing multiple album sets with the classical choices. Even I can't choose just one Mahler symphony or one Beethoven.

I have inserted what I consider to be the best Led Zeppelin album in place of Miles Davies. Cant have an all time top ten without Led Zep.Rick4001 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 3:28 pm Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

Taking out the Beach Boys in favour of the soundtrack album to my later teenage years from The Cure.
It was them or Siouxsie or Joy Division.
