You raise a good point there. If a company is trying to sell you something that improves one of their own products then it really should be built into the next iteration of that product at the very least, and they should be offering users an "upgrade" discount.

Example Porsche Cayenne, base price £52,000 roughly, top end model £115,000 same car better spec. All the extras are improvements. So they say!
