My opinion, obviously, but Stu mentioning John Bonham reminded me of something I've played more than a few times lately.
This is Heart, covering Stairway to Heaven, with Led Zep looking on, and President Obama getting his groove on, too. Bonzo's son, Jason, is playing the drums on this, and the whole thing gives me goosebumps every time.

Re: Best cover version - ever!
Heart with Nancy and Anne Wilson is one of my favourite all-time bands ever. When they started out it was both inspired and heavily influenced by Led Zep.
Wonderful.
Edit - this is so good it brought tears to my eyes. Wow!

Re: Best cover version - ever!
It must not be overlooked that the Beatles cut their teeth as a covers band, playing long sessions in Hamburg.
My favourite cover is probably one of a Beatles song, David Bowie's version of Across the Universe. A totally different interpretation with John Lennon playing on it. They were both probably completely out of it at the time.

In the current climate, I'd be careful admitting you like anything that Rolf Harris did.Lindsayt wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 1:49 amI prefer the Rolf Harris version.slinger wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 2:04 pm My opinion, obviously, but Stu mentioning John Bonham reminded me of something I've played more than a few times lately.
