Roughly 4.5m square but low ceiling at 2.2m as it's an old farmhouse.

Yes - the Cubettes are to show you what the design does, going from them to 3 then to 2 then to 1 etc tells you what that design is ultimately capable of. If you can afford and want to do it then it is a well justified process. But you can also stick at Cubettes they already show up most of what is out there to buy.

Also you take no risk, don't see the benefit send them back. The whole trade up process supplies new people to discover the design at silly prices too.

By the way if you want to make the jump to Cube 1 straight off I have two old case sets still here that have to go, one set built, the other just cabs at the moment. Normally £1400, but because of lack of room and needing to order the new cab version as long as I get £1000 a pair I will be happy.

Thanks, much as I'd like to I'll just go with the first step up and I'll do it quickly before I get carried away. What's the process, straight £400 now and do the juggling after? Let me know and I'll send the money.

We are in the process of having wall brackets fitted to hold a new tv and have discovered that the wall cavity is a lot wider than in most houses. I believe this was probably to accomodate an air central heating system which we replaced with gas when moving in. I am intrigued as to what effect this is having on the sound of the Cubes as it would seem that more low frequencies are being absorbed by the wall, instead of reflected, as would be the case with a more conventional wall design. I have no issues as there is plenty of bass depth, excellent definition and no over hang. As the speakers are as close to the wall as possible, taking into account the toe in, I was concerned that the upgrade from Cube 3s to 1s could be problematic, but this was not the case. I am wondering if the size of the cavity is a factor.
