Sent this querry to Micheal Fremer Forum.....
.....got no response:
I got a yellow Nagaoka from a friend who was getting shed of vinyl.
Not sure how long he had it, but it only held the "sticky" for me for a half year or so.
So they deffo do NOT hold up over time. (Which is a bitch especially since they were not cheap in the first place. My friend said he paid $70 for the thing!)
Anyways, I read somewhere that when the sticky inevitably takes a flying f. you can still use the roller. There are stick-on sticky papers that you can buy.
Anyone done this and know where to purchase?

I would just use some double sided tape. Modern adhesives can be impressive. This is what I have used for similar jobs.

Do you mean the yellow rubbery 'sticky' roller to 'clean' records?
Wash it under a tap and carefully dry it or allow the water to shake or drain off. That used to bring the sticky back and was recommended at the time, if this is what you have...

Same as DSJR above - I had one many years ago (70's/80's?), a tiny bit of fairy liquid in the wash and the sticky roller was fine. Don't dry with paper towel though!

Yes, of course I did the watering deal. No avail.
...............
Thanks! -good idea on the double-sided sticky tape. Trouble is, you need 3 inch wide tape and for some dumbass reason this is expensive as a tour of Heaven.
However I DO have a roll -very expensive - of metal tape (for ductwork). Its not double-sided sticky, but the sticky side is VERY sticky. Maybe I can get this real tight on top the yellow roller.

Re: Sent this querry to Micheal Fremer Forum.....
There is the option of replacing it with a Tonar Tacky Rolling Record Cleaner which is much the same thing at a fraction of the price, $24.49 in fact. The Nagaoka comes in at $78.75 (amazon US prices) as you say, silly price There again a 3mm layer of well chewed gum on the roller might have some mileage in it

No. I don't like replacing things. And I don't like throwing away things that once gave me pleasure but now have gone tits-up - like my tube amp or the reverb on me Hammond organ.

Assuming that the elastomer has come to the end of its useful life there would be nothing to lose by trying a harsher method for cleaning the surface - try giving the roller a rub with lint free cloth soaked in alcohol? (IPA for example)
