Hey Mojo Joe-Joe:
You wans the "Raw Power" lp by TERRY BROOKS AND STRANGE. 1000 copies pressed in - I think - 1976. "Terry going completely acid mind-fucked volcanic on the instrument."
Groove to this, Hubert:

You are an ignorant person.
Sales do not equate to quality. This is a fallacy you feed yourself to rationalize the THOUSANDS of bands you reserve no time to look into.
....
If you are so into numbers, Brooks 4th or fifth lp was pressed in massive amounts AND IN AT LEAST 6 DIFFERENT COLOURS. The tracks on that lp are much shorter , more pop and of less interest.

You guys need to maintain - keep your shit together. Don't hand your shit so lightly over to taste-manipulators.
Explore on your own. Don't flip for the average.
Every time you are in the supermarket and they are airing the radio station that plays the same ten songs over and over, sure you're gonna groove and spin your gerbil-wheel to it. The manipulators GOT TO YOU. You're tripping, Huberts.
Something that sells a lot is not necessarily worthy. It could be but the latest cash-in but ,more often than not, what sells is the familiar and the CONVENIENT.
In today's news Blind Childe just was informed that the trash seen on the streets of Canadian cities can be traced back to FIVE companies: Tim Horton's Donuts, Starbucks..... It is a minority governing your limited taste-palette. Not necessarily the best product...but, rather, the most convenient. And the most in YOUR FUCKING FACE.

Its all "attainment of a higher awareness of the reality beyond the illusion".
Jimmehs.
.......
Blind Child rarely recommends anymore. Did do back in the early days of internet when there were heads interested.
If you HONESTLY want to learn, its all laid out for you all over the internet. On a silver plate. Massive sites like Progressive Ears and Progarchives.
Even so - where it is fed direct to your gob, soundclips anorl - you have to set aside TIME (which ya'll likely do not have cos you're greedy for lucre).
If you want to learn more than just prog, go to where I contributed heavily some 20 years ago: Galactic Zoo at Yahoo Groups.
But I don't spill the progbeans anymore -especially not to ungrateful and uninterested fora like this (and most others).
Never liked freely ladeling it out with a silver spoon; the manna I had to learn with some difficulty - and lots of postage cost - those non-internet years past when tiny catalogues were printed on cheapest papers wot yellowed in the first year.

Re: pROG WILL ALWAYS HAVE AUDIOFOOLS AT A DISADVANTAGE
And, therein, is the point; we like it most when it is our own discovery and our own idea, preferably one that we have stumbled into by wandering as far from the path as possible, during the hours of darkness, catching trains and buses to a far away record shop or meeting a collector at a private (or public) house who has promised to save the one copy we can find of an LP that we have had on one of our 'wanted' lists made from scrap pieces of paper that we have been carrying around for nine years...Mississippi Blind Child Assburn wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 2:07 pm Never liked freely ladeling it out with a silver spoon; the manna I had to learn with some difficulty - and lots of postage cost - those non-internet years past when tiny catalogues were printed on cheapest papers wot yellowed in the first year.
...the internet is too easy.

Re: pROG WILL ALWAYS HAVE AUDIOFOOLS AT A DISADVANTAGE
Perhaps youse noticed on the "Let's see your lp WANT-LIST" thread that Blind Child did not offer up his personal wantlist.
My wantlist is Steven-Stapleton-dense. Many pages, Jimmehs.
You think I'm gonneur spill THAT? Educate noobs? Fat chance.
Sure, I could have offered up a list of 20 or so rather common lps I'm after -I'm still needing Black Sabbath "Heaven & Hell" but not for $40 (which is the going price for a used shitty CANADIAN orig press.)
That would not have cost me much to do since you know most of those bands.
But I didn't do even as much.
........
Shucks, Blind Child will indulge - even though no one here asked.
Some of my "common" wants:
Black Sabbath -sabotage,heaven & hell
Gong - leave it open, second wind, gongmaison
Hawkwind - electric teepee, palace springs, levitation
SRC -same
Dillinger - same
Hard Stuff - bullet proof
Stanley Clarke - live 76-77
Hardwater - same
traffic - mr fantasy, reaping
who - magic bus (compilation)
Marianne Faithful - north country maid
Pentangle - Solomon's seal
Jimmy Smith - rootdown
Shocking Blue - 3rd Album ('71)
Sweetwater - same
Mothers of invention - lumpy gravy. we're only in it for the money
Bert Jansch - Jack Orion
john Renbourn - another Monday, the enchanted garden
Davy Graham - large as life
T. Rex - my people were fair and had sky in their hair
-prophets seers & sages
Colosseum-grass is greener
Audience - friends,friends,friend
