Re: Your last listen
They are from Dresden, the town I live at. Together with Sterncombo Meissen and Elektra they are known as the "Sachsendreier" (three from Saxony), the only more or less Prog Bands in eastern Germany.

Re: Your last listen
I have some Amiga and Eterna recordings of several, mostly not GDR artists. When the GDR collapsed everybody was aiming for the western pressings, saying Amiga were the worst ones. Taking a look at it now, or better listening to them now, leads me to the conclusion, that we in the West (I moved to Dresden in 1994) sometimes had to suffer regarding the quality, especially with Chrysalis (thinking of Rory Gallagher DEUCE and Jethro Tull AQUALUNG). LIVING IN THE PAST is a bit thin, too.

Re: Your last listen
I remember having this Tangerine Dream LP 'Quichotte' on the East German Amiga label. It has since been reissued as the live album 'Pergamon' with an excellent CD version from Esoteric Records.
Recorded on 31 January 1980 at the Palast der Republik in East Berlin and, if I am correct, the first TD performance from new member Johannes Schmoelling.

Re: Your last listen
I was never interested in Tangerine Dream. Friends of mine liked them a lot but it never grabbed me. But it sounds fine, the Amiga pressing?

Re: Your last listen
Too long ago to recall if the LP was a good pressing or not.
What I do know is that Virgin Schallplatten GmbH released a CD version (then retitled 'Pergamon') in the mid-80's and that had very dodgy sound quality. I used it as an example of a disc that was difficult for a CD player to track properly.

Yes, there were a lot of poor CDs. On this subject I first think of Pampered manually/Sound of the bell by Pavlov's Dog. Completely dull!

Re: Your last listen
I have that Amiga Tang Dream alternate cover lp.
Its one of the better looking ones.
There were 4 or 5 non-German prog bands given the Amiga alternate cover treatment. All had bland coverarts. The only one I remember right now is the Rare Bird one.

Re: Your last listen
Wot is this "Eterna" label?
.....
Another very interesting German label - especially if you're into exploito, like I am, is Europa.

Re: Your last listen
Eterna was the east german label for classic and jazz. What is "exploito"? I know the Europa label as specialized in audio dramas.
