Re: Footy
Sarfend are called 'The Shrimpers', as are Morecambe. When the two play each other, rather than 'el classico' we call it 'el gambero'.
This last season at Sunderland was grim, but I did at least get to use my favourite song from my Sarfend north bank days...when opposition supporters start singing "Going down, going down, going down", we sing back "So are we, so are we, so are we".
Next season, my youngest lad and I will be the only 2 Sarfend supporters travelling to the away game at the SOL on a Durham supporters bus - I'm sort of hoping for a draw
Jack Ross looks a progressive, talented manager. The only fear I have is that there's a big gulf in class between Scottish and English football. Ducks behind sofa...

Re: Footy
South Korea scoring 2 goals in injury time against Germany today.
England and Belgium having the ridiculous situation of both wanting to lose to get an easier (theoretical) route to the finals.

Re: Footy
My heart goes out to the Aussies - Not!
Beaten convincingly in the Cricket (they have been very quiet since the "scandal"), World Cup Footy ( rather than their own version) and the Rugby
Oh and the Netball not that long ago!
What's the equivalent of "Pommie Bashing"
I think our Media have been very restrained unlike their Aussie counterparts in the past!

Re: Footy
I find pommy bashing to be fun, it is a national sport in Oz, it is just fun banter in bars they really actually like us, they just like to think they are better or wanna be. I loved it there in the month I spent in Melbourne, one of the few places I would go and live.

Re: Footy
As a gesture to English pride and Nationalism I will give a discount of 25% on ALL NVA product if England win the Football World Cup this summer, and a commiseration discount of 10% if they get into the final and lose. Discount will be applied for 24 hours (look at ebay if it happens) after the match. UK only. I thought of leaving out Wales and Scotland but there is such a mixture across the borders it seemed pointless.
