Acrylic drums
Been doing a fair bit of drumming recently, two bands at once, played a local mini festival last bank holiday to a few hundred people. Really enjoying it again.
Got to thinking about acrylic drums. Not so popular these days but were back in the 70's. I have never heard a set in the flesh but have heard recordings with them on. Supposed to have a lot of "attack" thats all i know about how they sound. Any body here know how they sound ? The kit i have is a professional one from the 90''s made from pure birch ply. Sounds clean and fast. All the cheaper drums use composites similat to chipboard - yuck. I see some similarities between materials used to make speakers and drums.
Makes me want to find some acrylic drums.
Anyway a question. Which drummers used acrylic drums. I know of two off hand. John Bonham on The Song remains the same and Billy Cobham in Mahavishnu Orchestra. There must be loads more, come on give me a few more.

Keith Moon had one the famous Goldfish jobbie lol
There were also Fibre Glass kits made by North.. Alan White of YES used them in the late 70's as did Billy Cobham
Ive got some reviews somewhere in my old International Musician Magazines from the 70's..

Re: Acrylic drums
Watched a Carl Palmer solo the other week. Awesome. I remember reading in Rhythm magazine (probably in the 90's ) that he had carpal tunnel syndrome. That must be awful for a drummer.
