Re: Things that go walkie's
Is it up for sale Colin or is someone showing it off. Be interesting to know where it's been. How long are we talking about?

Re: Things that go walkie's
The idiot who stole it sold it to a guy in Somerset. I will never get it back.
It was designed for Maggy Speakers and it was 50W/8R, 100W/4R, 200W/2R, 400W/1R in stereo, or 800W/0.5R Mono or 200W/8R, 400W/4R, 800W/2R and only 1200W/1R mono bridge.
A few dealer tried it and on Wharfedale Diamond is was amazing, and one dealer sold lots of Diamonds because of it.
It was a beast, the guy who stole left it unused for nearly 40yrs it was covered in crap and found only a mile away from my old factory on Canvey Island. He also stole a Claymore and a FMT tuner from me, thanks Dodger, yes YOU in Canvey.
Now it is in a home I will approve of and cared for.

Re: Things that go walkie's
Could you produce a modern equivalent, Colin?
And roughly how much would it cost?
Just thinking, this sort of amp would appeal to those with awkward load speakers.
And there is something satisfying about owning pleasantly over-engineered kit like this.

Ah I see, my apologies Colin for I mistook your reference to back on the scene as back in your possession.Colin Wonfor wrote: ↑Tue May 15, 2018 12:08 pm The idiot who stole it sold it to a guy in Somerset. I will never get it back.

Re: Things that go walkie's
I wish, it was 30inch wide and about 80Kgs so no room here for it, shame.
Yes can see the top of 1 of the 2 1KVA transformers and a bank of 8 of 47,000uF at 50V capacitors, a little over kill never hurts, it had 24 pairs complementary 55A FET,s

From the photo, you lose all sense of scale. 30" and 80 kgs; that is gloriously bonkers, in a nice way.
I love heavy audio equipment.
It makes me laugh when owners of hamster coffin active speakers go on about "250 watts of power" from their lightweight bass amplification module. Whilst this is a "mere" 50 watt amplifier. That doubles down to every impedance to 0.5 ohms.

CDs. Just like socks. I wouldn't be surprised if someone wasn't coming in, stealing the damn things and selling them off...
