See the large aircon units, as I imagine it could become fart central.

Pity they couldn't get a chunk off for booking 40 odd rooms...
Maybe they did, but I would expect the venue would also charge for the event letting members of the public in, and in effect taking over the hotel for the day.

Yep, I did run those things through my mind - would still have asked them to 'sharpen the pencil' a bit, though...

I wonder how many of those bedrooms would fit inside my EV Patrician speakers?

If I May?

Kegworth show.

I have attended 9 out of the past 10 shows (missed the 1st). I can’t remember how I came by it, as I am not a member or ever read any posts at WigWam, neither do I know anyone involved in hi-fi or any forums. But I have enjoyed every visit and even one year spent a few songs in the NVA room.

The show has always followed a similar format, but the last couple of years had a slightly different edge to them, especially last year which was very odd!

Personally speaking, this year’s show was better than last year’s, it had a better location and parking, and although the rooms were mainly ‘small’, it didn’t seem to affect the sound. I have always thought some large rooms at Scalford were not used to their full potential. There were less attendees this year, which could have been a result of the weather.
Whether the weather or not, you would not want many more attendees without more exhibitors in such a small space.

Favourite rooms;

Steve57 - always good sounding home designed speakers.

RMS shipbroker – always enjoy his setup, mainly Audio Note

Olduis – Never thought I liked NS1000M’s, sounded great! in a small room too, but at lower volumes Hmm..

The reel BBC/Lodgesound – Reel to Reel stuff, sounded so right.

Raphael Samad – Great sounding active speakers, PSI audio according to the bumph.

One thing is for sure, for me there is no ‘one true correct sound’ it comes in many forms.

I wish them well for future events and hopefully I will be able to carry on attending. It was a bit pricey however, but perhaps profit has to be the priority now.
Kevin.

No Valves - Technics SL1210/Jelco/DL103 (vdh) - Phono2 - P50SA - A70's - Cubettes
Valves - Cambridge CD - World Designs Pre3 - WAD 6550 - Troels Gravesen CA18rnx speakers.

I heard Steve57's speakers in the 'big room' at MCRU. They were highly engaging.

I read somewhere (I think PFM) that the 300 attendees was up on last year.

Nice to hear that Lodgesound was still there as I think the owner passed away last year?

Yep pricey but profit and slurp is the priority for PFP and his henchman.

I can't imagine anyone invests the amount of time and effort required to put on a show like that without expecting a return in some form, be it favour or fiscal. The world's just not full of Samaritans like that. If it keeps going then all power to him.

Though I'd prefer to see an enthusiast only show.

I would like to see a show run by an enthusiast. I don't expect it to lose money though.

The 'enthusiast' exhibitors that travelled, set up, hosted, packed away, paid room costs...for no return, fiscal or favour, AFAIK.
