I know, but did you have to spoil my fun?Lindsayt wrote: ↑Sun Mar 18, 2018 8:04 pmThe order in which Google results come out depend on your past browsing / Internet usage. You spend a lot of time here, so Hi-fi Subjectivist will come near the top for you.
Log into a fresh computer, eg one at your local library and search for the show as the first thing you do and the link to HFS may well come out rather lower than third.

Re: Kegworth HiFi show
Scanning the forums appears no big rooms or systems and only 300 paying customers. No Stamford Audio records. Probably will lose money I would think. Nothing against the people exhibiting but perhaps the show should be taken over by a more competent entity and be scheduled later in the year. Maybe find a venue with decent rooms. I would suggest to avoid losses any show needs to be close to a larger conurbation. There certainly is a bigger potential audience in the south or even Birmingham or Manchester areas. Also more realistic entrance fees and not Bristol show pricing.

Re: Kegworth HiFi show
It should be what it was supposed to be, a show for ALL forum members, run by a forum not a commercial blog like Wigwam has become. Most of the old member at the Old Wigwam are now at Audio Abattoir so it should be their inheritance. Will it happen I doubt it. But smaller and back to its original home Scalford Hall.

Hasn't Scalford Hotel gone bust? Anyway it's a bit of an old grott hole that needs modernising. Still a pain to get too even when I lived relatively close in Rugby. At least it had some large spaces. Any new venue needs to be close to the motorway and attractive to a wider public than forum members to cover high hotel charge these days.

Not bust still trading according to the website.
https://www.scalfordhall.co.uk/
It should go back there, for all its faults, it is its home. it also had character.

Re: Kegworth HiFi show
The lack of big rooms is the biggest downside compared to Scalford. To compensate, it's easier to get to, the parking's better, bedrooms are bigger and there's less sound leakage.
Scalford also has more character and a nicer garden setting.
Staff seem to be equally good at both hotels.
Impossible to say how much visitor numbers were affected by the weather.
300? Does that include the 60 odd people that were exhibiting and helping organise? Is that an official figure or a rumoured number? The actual number of visitors may have been lower or higher than 300 - and isn't really any of my business anyway.
How much does it cost to put on? More than, for example, £4.5k? Not that that's any of my business either.
Kegworth is a great day out for anyone into hi-fi.
It's a pleasant day out for anyone not into hi-fi.
Could it be better? Probably.
Could it be worse? Definitely.
Is there anything I could say or do (that I haven't done already) that would make it better? I can't think of anything.
Do I support Kegworth? Yes, in my own little way.
Would I support some other UK based hi-fi bake-off / demonstration event? Sure, I'd be happy to do that too.

Under new ownership ? (Great National). Perhaps some improvements have been made? I suspect the charges will be much more for exhibitions than before if owners will even entertain them.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: ↑Sun Mar 18, 2018 11:25 pm Not bust still trading according to the website.
