Re: Holiday
I got to the Hospital in the end, my Oncologist talking to my Doctor who ordered the Ambulance. It turned out to be Deep Vein Thrombosis in my left calf muscle, potentially fatal, and I am not ill enough to have an Ambulance say 111 and 999.
Going back for injections in my belly every day for a week - I think I have been a bit lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Holiday
Just shows how this stupid hotline referal system just does not work and can lead to sometimes fatal consequences. I have heard of a few horror stories recently where people have been givin the wrong advise. One was a friend who ended up having 10 hr brain surgery on a tumor who was told it's probably just a migraine. Sorry you are having troubles Doc but glad to see it is being attended to now amd hope it's not to much discomfort.

Re: Holiday
Sounds like they are employing Inexperienced or people not medically trained. Pain in leg and long flight - this should have been an obvious possibility. Certainly you were lucky this time. Actually it's pretty disgusting. A layman would have thought of this just on information based on incidents reported in the news. Complain to your local MP.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2018 1:49 am I got to the Hospital in the end, my Oncologist talking to my Doctor who ordered the Ambulance. Re: Holiday
I don't like to comment really, as I appreciate these people are rushed off their feet at the best of times, but surely with The Doc's medical history, one would have thought that a sense of priority would apply. A terrible situation and glad it's hopefully being sorted out now.
I support Guy's enthusing about Ipswich Hospital although my experiences are a few years old now when I spent a week in there. Situation with our local surgery though is that you speak to a receptionist, who 'decides' if a Doctor or practise nurse can phone you back. I nearly came a slight cropper several months ago when I needed to speak to the nurse practitioner on Diabetic matters and was all but blanked by the receptionist as all the call slots were booked. She did pass a message through though and the nurse (who's a lovely lady) phoned me back full of apologies as her Diabetic patients should always have priority. As it is, after my regular blood tests a couple of days ago, I have to wait two weeks to see her for my half-hour appointment. Even a two minute 'b12' injection has to be booked nearly a week in advance...

Re: Holiday
Complaining to your local MP is the best course of action. If the MP is worth his/her salt the matter will be raised with the chair of your local health trust. This would be classed as a serious incident.
