Sony ES CD Players
Can't afford the more expensive upper class models just yet.
What are the good ones that sell in the 300-400 bracket?

Re: Sony ES CD Players
Coincidence, I am going to sell my X777ES but I want £600 for it. I have another one I am rebuilding so this one can go.
Re: Sony ES CD Players
Which begs the question .......
Why faf about rebuilding one, when you have a good un available
Just keep the other for spares should you require em...

Not if the casework is crap! Love the ES players. Unfortunately my 337ESD was stolen over 20years ago. Do you have problems with parts? Apparently Sony won't support even fairly recent models!Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Because I will get £600 for it

FFS will people read or stop inventing. I have one that is perfect (for its age) that is what I will sell. I have a second one that is a mess to look at but works OK, it is that one I am working on. May even build it into a nva case, it works as a chassis at the moment.

Re: Sony ES CD Players
I got a Sony C85ES kicking around here, I plan on using it as my garage system player. This one is in perfect condition, its amazing really, well aside from the missing remote. But I can get a compatible one off Ebay as I understand it.
Love how this one is built, and functions, but the sound is just eh. Course its a million years old, and there were limitations to the output stages on these. I bet a person could get into these and update it nicely. But that's not in my skill set.
I did own a SCD777ES quite a few years ago. A nice sounding machine, if still afflicted by the smooth Sony sound. Doesn't seem that the transport/sled system has survived well over the years. More than a few have gone down to this, and not sure if parts are still available. But just an awesome machine in terms of scale and vision. I would still love to have one to use.
