Re: prog rock
Anyone remember the Radio 3 late night show in the mid 70's - was it called 'Sounds Interesting?' The presenter wasn't a young man (Derek Jewell), but all sorts of rock was played. I first heard Brand X and Shamal by Gong on this show..
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Yes I have CDees of the Gong 'Sheffield City Hall' & 'Bataclan, Paris'tomblackford wrote:Great to see Gong here too... Anybody familiar with the <ahem> semi official Paris 1973 and Sheffield 1974 live albums? I think the incredible version of Zero The Hero And The Witches Spell on Live Etc was taken (edited) from the former, and both contain some truly amazing drawn out spacey jamming (that would probably never have made an official release).
Re: prog rock
Prog was well over by the time that LP came out, Even Punk was a gonner by then..tomblackford wrote:
As for the Prog Punk question, might I suggest the first fripp solo album Exposure? Perhaps not strictly punk but I suspect he might have been trying to pick up some of the energy and spontaneity, albeit delivered in a fairly proggy way.
Well Prog/Punk if you must ask: Peter Hammill 'Nadirs Big Chance'.[Early 1975]

Re: prog rock
Well-known late 70's Prog band The Police featured an ex-Curved Air drummer (also married to singer Sonja Kristina) an ex-Soft Machine guitarist and a jazz-rock fretless bass player.
Do Doo doo Doo, da daa daa daa
Is all I want to say to you.
And National Health are wonderful.
Was pretty gloomy but that cheered me right up
Thanks.
