Tom Jones 'Long Lost Suitcase'
This is the final in a trilogy of albums which started with 'Praise and Blame' (we'll see what he does next) this one is a little more 'poppy' than the previous two and perhaps is a bit more about his own music than the music of others - it's the companion album to his autobiography. All three albums are nicely put together, tastefully restrained - even 'stripped back' production and of course there's that voice which, for me, is now better than it has ever been.

Trifle - First Meeting (1971)
A sort of English Blood Sweat & Tears with a serving of (early) Chicago on the side is the best way I can describe this one.

Re: Your last listen
I've been on YouTube, listening to some fine dance stuff from the 80's - remixes of SOS Band favourite tracks, plus some other tracks I dare not shout about. really good music but it's thirty odd years old now
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Manuel Iman: Legacy
I have no idea how this came to be in my CD collection, but I gave it a spin earlier today and got a pleasant surprise. Nice, chilled, well produced and of the 'world music' genre, with a hint of Eastern promise . Worth a listen.

The National: Alligator.
Have these guys made a bad album yet? Love everything they've done, and they even named this album after a Grateful Dead song

Re: Your last listen
The National are stunningly good.
Check out 'Boxer' as well. And the rest. In a similar vein is Interpol's 'Turn Out the Bright Lights'.
There is a side project called Clogs that play an odd acoustic/ambient mix.

Re: Your last listen
Well I gave it a go Walter and tried your suggestions Fret, don't get me wrong it is quality, but just not quite my cuppa.
Did get me to this in one heck of a round about way though......Its well worth checking out.
You may know him best as front man with the Aussie group "Men at WorK"

Stereo was a bit of a gimmick in 71.slinger wrote:Trifle - First Meeting (1971)

Cool. Thanks.
Of course that second track is a cover

Remember when Manfred Mann went all prog (and commercial - the Mannekin Advert...)
[BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFJhpvuPoQ4[/BBvideo]
which was 'Travelling Lady'
[BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUvfbpi_1RA[/BBvideo] warning 45 second intro.
Which was, of course, absolutely nothing to do with Hendrix' Foxy Lady
