George I know you are disappointed but if you look at it logically you should be glad they sold at all as anyone with any sense would have used the money they gave you for the audiolab gear and bought nva amplification

If you want a certain amount for something use BIN or put a reserve on it. Auctions are strange. i think when something goes for a surprisingly high price it is likely due to the seller or an accomplice bidding it up. In general used gear is not easy to shift these days especially through forums so not surprised that in a free bidding auction without reserve that prices are dropping. Often those items with high BIN do not move and seller won't accept a realistic offer.

My local Hifi shop is very good about part-exchanging gear. I have got good deals from him a couple of times. Including swapping my Magnepan MMG's as part-payment for the Hegel HD12. Almost got back what I paid for the speakers.
