Arcam FMJ CD23 a keeper?
It was in my mind to sell my antique CDP ( Arcam FMJ CD23 ) for something a little more contemporary ie Oppo BD103. My problem is that with red book CD's it's one of the best CDp's I've had. Should i keep it? My problem is that my cave already has far too much Hi-fi in it. Having borrowed a couple of high end players lately i know only too well just how good the Arcam is.

Yes, keep it or give to me to look after for you
Mind you, the oppo should do all the formats you need very well so I'd imagine if it didn't better it you'd have to wonder why you bought the oppo rather than a more generic bdp in the first place.

If you like it keep it, don't make the same mistake you made with the Lenco. I have become a top of the range Sony ES man, but I would still love to find a Sony CDP R1.

What they said.
Personally, I wish I'd never got rid of my Arcam Alpha 9 CDP...even if I did make a profit on it.

The bloody thing may well have a nice solid case, but it's as sensitive to siting as any turntable I found. I have no idea why, but try different ways of supporting it and I'm sure you'll get it even better than it is now. I was always fond of 'Something Solid' stands and supports and the FMJ player and amp sounded lovely on the balsa shelved and suspended racks they make. There may be an individual version you could try for the CD player on its own.
Give the above a try. You've got a really good player there and it's worth trying non-invasive add-ons for it IMO.
