Re: Help! Digital Numpty
I thought spdif was another word for optical cable. It seems it can be used for both optical and coaxial. My error.

Re: Help! Digital Numpty
Thanks Brit but too much hassle for such a small thing. I am willing to go on consensus, if I can find any.
I am waiting for Terry to pop in and say what he thinks.

Re: Help! Digital Numpty
I have been watching some youtube lately as I used to a lot when I had the TFS. I just want to listen on my system instead of crappy in built speakers in the computer or slightly better through the headphone socket to my headphones.

Re: Help! Digital Numpty
Wallace, The V-DAC was the first affordable dac with audiophile pretensions and opened the door for the rest. For the price it was darn good. V-link is an asynchronous converter that changes USB data to SPDIF and has its own time-code system to minimise jitter.
Works a treat.
Doc, see if you can try one of Brit's converters, see if it's what you need.

This is the one I took to the bake off the other night, it's a dac with a headphone amp but will also do usb to SPDIF converter. Think of it as an added bonus and don't be too surprised if it gives your Sony a run for its money
