NuForce HDP accepts 12v to 15v DC and I know that some people successfully powered it with 4 x 18650 3.7V 3400mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Battery (AA size)
As a alternative to expensive linear power supply I was wandering if bigger battery would work:
Connect 12V 10Ah Gel moped battery to NuForce HDP through cable made of crock clips to DC tip (5.5/2x5/9x5mm)
and once a month charge battery with trickle battery charger.
Will that be OK and safe ??
Any opinions?

FWIW. I use a 12v 7.2ah Yuasa security alarm battery to power my Bantam Gold, which I use as a headphone amplifier. I have a car battery too, think that might be rated 28ah. Overall, the security alarm battery is probably preferable. Might be worth considering? Also, consider fitting a fuse / switch if you intend to leave it on all the time.

You can get regualted linear power supplies for tens of pounds , just make sure it is not advertised for audiophile use .
they are a bit ugly though .

Something like that?
http://ebay.co.uk/itm/221286090989 ?
Well I tried a semi expensive linear supply for hifi but it went back cause bg noise was even worse
I think I will try battery now:-P
Is that alarm battery gel or lead?

Another Idea
I have one of those Swees® 25600mAh Power Bank it outputs through USB 5V/2.1A
I could connect something like 5V to 12V Step Up Boost Power Converter
there is one on ebay
30W - Input 5V Output Current 12V 2A - that should give enough juice for NuForce - I think
Anyone played with similar setup?
