The first Sky album wasn't too bad. Especially side 2 which was an extended suite written by Francis Monkman of Curved Air.
But Sky 2 was too long and self-indulgent. I saw them play on that tour (Monkman had left the band) and it was a fairly soporific show.

Best thing Sky ever recorded was a 12" single of 'Dies Irae' and 'March to the Scaffold', which (if memory serves me well) are from Berlioz's 'Symphonie Fantastique'. These tracks show Sky at their pomp-rock best.

But Sky did feature one of the best "unknown" guitarists of the time - Kevin Peek. And the man who wrote "Grandad" on bass and tuba. :lol:

I can't say i'm a big lover of Sky. i think it's jazz fusion gone wrong to be honest. Give me Fourplay any day.
