There is a lot of it about at the moment.
If it was possible would you do it from now until you retire ? What are the advantages ? Do employers trust their work force enough to let them ? What are the down sides ? No human interaction on a social level ?
I think the environment would benefit from everyone doing it who could. Obviously many jobs can't be done from home. Mine is kind of working from home. I feel like I am still at home when working in a field I have known all my life even though it is remote from the farmstead.

Re: Working from home
A lot of people used to work from home on some days where I used to work. I did not and did not fancy the idea. If I was not retired I would definately be working from home now along with everyone else. If I liked it I would want to continue to do so. This is the case with my step son's wife who had never worked from home before.

Re: Working from home
I think I likely will break my pre-CV routine on a permanent basis. It's been an opportunity to examine stuff and think of better ways. Necessity is the mother of invention, and all that...

Re: Working from home
I've gone from working from home a couple of days a week to working from home full time. I've now reduced my hours to three days a week (which was planned from before CV).
What I've found is:
I get angry quickly - I was prone to do this and ranting at work before but now it's just anger - no one to rant to I guess. But it does throw a new focus on a need to channel the anger in a different way (hopefully a productive one - I learned not to moan but then I started ranting. Not sure about the way out of that one.
My job involves analytical thinking. And I found that (I think I still find that) difficult when I'm divorced from the place of work - I find it difficult to relate to the problem.
However, I'm working more by writing stuff down, which is probably a good thing (so long as the documents are short, readable and to the point) and in that I'm refering to other stuff that is written down. We're supposed to be 'transparent' which is difficult if most of the stuff only existing in people's heads.
Reducing my hours has made me focus on what I need to get done more and has given me a good excuse to drop the timewasters.
Do I want to carry on working like this - at the moment no but I think I am capable of doing it.

Re: Working from home
I work from home anyway, problem I am finding is that with everyone else at home I get constant interruptions for stupid irrelevant things. And broken concentration when trying to do something complicated because somebody else wants my attention.
Like people asking me to make them a cup of tea. Or making the third man in an argument between the kids.
Or having to go get something from the shop for someone.
All little things that add up to frustration that wasn't there before
And no routine any more.
I am used to doing things in a certain way and it is difficult to square myself away when I can't.

Re: Working from home
I only ever worked from home on one job, which was a 3-month coding gig when I was contracting. The days I worked from home I probably put more hours in than the days I commuted in. I remember getting messages saying things like "You sent this in at midnight. Is that correct?" What can I say? If I'm working on a project I absolutely hate having to stop when I know I can finish a segment of it given a bit more time.

Re: Working from home
The sum up of my lockdown is that I now have a cable long enough to get a beer from the fridge without having to take the headphones off...

Well done. That's my kind of thinking. Will it reach the toilet as well ? What goes in must come out
