Despite having prime, delivery times are all over the place.
Re: Amazon ordered to deliver only essential items in France
Is it morally right for anyone to order NON ESSENTIAL stuff from any mail order supplier during the Covid restrictions ?Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 12:51 pm Despite having prime, delivery times are all over the place.
Think of all the people involved in picking, packing, transportation and delivery.

Re: Amazon ordered to deliver only essential items in France
Morals are down to the individual.
When I got a cab ride on Eurostar, I noticed 2 small (empty) glass holders beside the driver. I was told that, in French law, each worker is entitled to 2 small glasses of wine with their lunch. Fitting the wine glass holders was considered essential (possibly in big capital letters, I don't know) to the train design being passed by the French Government, who were footing half the bill (for the train, not the wine). I'm told that a 'gentlemen's agreement' ensured that the glass holders were never used.
Less glamorously, I bought some supplies from my local Co-op at the weekend. Were the cookies, crisps, nachos, chocolate bar and beers essential? I also had some booze delivered, calvados and whisky (Powers Gold Label - not extravagant). The courier put them on the doorstep, waved at me through the window (I gave the thumbs up), he retreated to the van and left me to pick up the items.
I reckon that maintaining sanity is an essential part of observing the lockdown and, tbh, I'd hate to think of me becoming such a wanker that I would feel the urge to stand over people in the Co-op to inspect their baskets, or interrogate any couriers that drove into my street.
As a compromise maybe they could decree that non-essential goods can only be dispatched in conjunction with an order that contains essential items. A free pint of milk with every audiophile fuse?

Would you (or anyone on here) order from any mail order supplier who was shown to be making it's staff work in contravention to the social distancing recommendations ?

You have to take it on faith that rules are applied. Delivery drivers are alone and self employed. Therefore they need to work.
You'll find your postman is also working.

Long live delivery services- keeping the economy going and idle hands active- domestic abuse is on the rise which is a more important issue that has aggravating factors from anxiety, boredom and no distractions, amongst others, exacerbated by this lock down- if non essential items help ease this then

Not if they were proven to be deliberately in breach and were not taking remedial action.
Do you have a list of mail order suppliers who have been proven to be acting illegally, in this regard?
I'm sure that small breaches take place, just as they take place regarding daily exercise. I reckon that most are doing their very best.

Re: Amazon ordered to deliver only essential items in France
I've ordered 47 seperate items in 2 weeks. I'm doing my bit to keep the economy going.
One of the things I ordered were some hairdressing sheers. I'm going for an armegadon hair cut.
Rus for f sake name someone or shut up. You may as well assume they all have perfect practices rather than flouting the law.

Re: Amazon ordered to deliver only essential items in France
Our local boozer's Facebook group is having a competition to see who can grow the longest lockdown beard.
I haven't ordered any shears but I did get a beard brush and some beard oil.
Mary from The Terrace is winning by the latest reckoning (inspired by Slinger's 'Funnies' post )
