Are care homes not all under private management these days if so the individual companies who own them have to take some form of responsibility for their procedures. As a side note the only thing more untrustworthy than a politician is a journalist. Don't believe everything you read.

Around 85% are privately owned, but they are still regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

From The Daily Mail: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... bolic.html

In another scandalous turn in the handling of the care home crisis, a letter leaked from the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (Adass) has raised concerns about testing, personal protective equipment (PPE) and funding for care workers.

The letter was written on Saturday and leaked to the BBC and says early deliveries of PPE have been 'paltry' with more recent drops 'haphazard'.

As care workers have repeatedly raised concerns that they are being forgotten about during the crisis, the letter has revealed that some PPE meant for care workers is being confiscated by border control then sent to the NHS.

That implies that care homes need to draw ppe from some sort of central resource?

It depends on what you call journalism, and what you want to believe...

Journalism is like everything in life, you have choices. I start with who owns the outlet and then go from there. For example from my perspective anything to do with the disgusting Murdoch empire is almost ruled out from the start. There's still lots of relatively impartial good journalism available but I do worry that bit by bit it's been overtaken by the most powerful global people to further their own agenda

Top story, again, today...

"The government is facing fresh questions over the time it took to join an EU scheme to source medical equipment.

Officials have insisted the UK did not receive an initial invitation in time because of communication problems.

But Brussels sources have told the BBC the UK was given ample opportunity to take part in the scheme"

...sources present during Cobra meetings have told the BBC there were discussions about whether to work with the EU at the start of the pandemic..

And Laura K.

"Eyebrows in Westminster shot up immediately at someone in his position of authority in Whitehall taking such a different position.

Within hours he was, in turn, directly contradicted by the health secretary at Tuesday afternoon's Downing Street briefing, when Matt Hancock said there had been "no political decision".

Unusual enough for a senior official and a senior minister to be giving such different pictures.

Then, a couple of hours later, a letter emerged from Sir Simon saying that there had been a misunderstanding and he had been wrong (although it's worth noting he denied specifically that UK officials in Brussels had briefed ministers).

It might sound like splitting hairs, but that is different to saying that no such conversations ever took place."

More Malcolm Tucker...

"The problem is that if you say to a journalist, 'Can you avoid that topic?' that's when they really go for it. It's like saying to the school bully, 'I'll wet myself if you tickle me.'"

There's a song from Madness that comes to mind ....

"No commitment, you're an embarrassment
Yes, an embarrassment, a living endorsement
The intention that you have booked
Was an intention that was overlooked

They say, "Stay away
Don't want you home today
Keep away from our door
Don't come 'round here no more"

From what I've heard this morning on the TV these accusations would seem to be false.

Another reason why I don't believe much of what the press publish.
