Getting frustrated with yet another phono fault, hum loop that magically appeared this morning on switch on that was not there yesterday. this time I shall have to leave it alone for a while and regain some composure.
I feel the bank card will take a hammering shortly.

Went fishing for the first time this year. The first time there has been the right tide in day light hours and the weather has been fair. A few bites but caught nothing. A bit disapointing as this time last year I was in amongst the Codling and they are around. Very exposed with a stiff breeze and I am still thawing out. Stii Nice to be out in the open and back before the rain.

Mucking out drawers and cupboards in the home/business office.

It is bizarre how much rubbish accumulates over the years - running into things like 20-year-old lottery tickets (worthless) and unused diaries from before the ark.

The dustbins are now overflowing.

Dentist for removing a crown on a rotting tooth. Got a temporary one on and it's ROUGH. Not sure my tongue will survive?

Then went to my Pilates class to keep the joints moving. Practiced bass and flute for Sunday.

Installing a new BT Smart Hub 2 and changing passwords on all my connected devices. I have a lot of devices it seems, far more than I remember. PC first and set the hub up, telly next, then Volumio. Blu-ray player, Amazon Fire TV Box, AV amp, Freesat Box, phone, Chromecast, assorted tablets, iPad, Huawei and Asus tablets, Fire tablet, Nook, and Kindle. Chromebook, second PC. I'm sure I've forgotten some somewhere. Oh, bugger! The printer.

It doesn't hurt to change passwords once in a while, so I pretty much used it as an excuse to do that. When you're retired and hobble around with a walking stick anything breaks the monotony mate.

Fault finding again.
In the last week or so I've had to do a lot of that.
Phono stage is now fixed, found 2 dry joints, one in the power supply section and one in the earth side. These were pretty obvious once I took it to bits.
Found 2 dodgy cables, these were both going on 20 years old and of questionable parentage, no idea where they came from. I'm not big on cables. Swapped for a pair of similarly questionable parentage, but that work.
Replaced 3 sockets on the pre. Will be replacing them all with new ones shortly.
Need to replace the cable for the wireless headphones as the 3.5mm jack to 2 phono adapter is doing odd things such as adding hum when it's plugged in.
Put a steel baseplate on both the pre and the switching box which I hadn't been arsed to do when I built them.
And this morning had to change one of the 4mm banana plugs on one of the speaker leads as it was randomly cutting out on one channel.

This is what comes of using the system as a test rig. Plugging in and unplugging stuff, and moving stuff around frequently to make foom for whatever is being tested. And being a cheapskate when it comes to cables. I am loathe to spend money on wires. I could do with a test rig setting up..... Wonder what I've got hanging around.....
