Opera browser - speed and privacy

Unread post by Fretless »

I have been using the Opera Browser for Windows and Android off and on for years. The new release (V.64) has a couple of interesting privacy functions that significantly increase the speed of the browser. These are a highly effective Ad Blocker and a Tracker Blocker, meaning that the browser doesn't bother loading any irritating adverts and it doesn't send all sorts of data to commercial websites who like to monitor your every move on the internet.

Those interested in speed and privacy might want to check it out.

I must admit, I've grown fond of Chrome, but it's starting to go the way of IE now, and starting to get a bit bloated. It's probably a toss-up between going back to Firefox or maybe giving Opera a try.
Interestingly, the new M$ Edge Dev and Beta releases I'm trialling at the moment (when I remember) are built on Chromium and a load of other open-source software, including, it seems, Android.

I have found compatibility issues with Opera and many of the websites I use for banking and utilities. Perhaps it's improved. I'll have a look.
