Peter Tork has passed.
The Monkees were a kind of secret pleasure for a few years. Their first three albums (the third 'Headquarters' being all theirs) had some damned good songs on written by good people.

Goes with my current mood - The sun will shine again, but not until tomorrow is well passed as this day will be an important 25th anniversary for me

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Re: Bring out yer dead..... The RIP thread.
I was obsessed with the Monkees when I was in my early 20s. My first wife got really jealous and threatened to leave me over it. I thought she was joking but then I saw her face..._D_S_J_R_ wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 7:16 pm Peter Tork has passed.

Re: Bring out yer dead..... The RIP thread.
The songs were catchy, well played (if not by the characters initially) and well produced for the singles-era they were made in. Maybe not the intellectual up their stoned heads stuff of Soft Machine and Van Der Graff Generator for example, but they sold well and made many people very happy. The fact you can still listen to much of it fifty odd years on (unlike said VDG and Soft Machine ) must say something for the art of making good catchy singles :D
