Superfi

Another slurper company bites the dust - long may it continue. Soon it will just be Richer - why? because he doesn't slurp as much, his slurp is justified, but not the rest of the piss takers.

A sign of the times affecting the high street in general. The less retailers there are the more likely retailers are to sell directly. In the case of hifi i think in store demonstrations are pointless unless it is head phones.

Home loans or sale and return are the future for Hi-Fi.

I was looking at the 'stock clearance' on their website only a few days ago. Should have realised they were in trouble. Website now down. I think there is little chance of Richer disappearing given they have wider interests (Cambridge) and sell a lot of exclusive lines. In fact Superfi going will make remaining box shifter style retailers stronger. I would expect the Audio T's of this world to be next on the failure list followed by the high end slurpers like Cohearent.

Of course, it will morph into its original reality - a hobby - direct sales - mostly second hand via ebay etc. It is almost that now.

I was at Audio T for a while yesterday and i think only one other person came in. The products they stock also seem to be declining. Richer Sounds always seems busy, but the main interest is tv.

Well everyone has a TV, not so many hi-fi. Judging by their Emails Richer push TV deals more than anything else.

Richer seems to have 'evolved' along with the market, as does (no, stop hitting me!) Sevenoaks. I receive regular advertising from them and a huge amount of it is now devoted to TVs and AV gear.
