Gatwick Drones

Unread post by CN211276 »

I can't believe this has been allowed to happen. Couldn't they simply shoot them down? Yesterday was an anxious time as my stepson was flying from Gatwick to join us in Malta for Christmas. Thankfully he is now on the plane.

I was due to fly to Gatwick early this morning and the flight was canceled; I’m irritated and inconvenienced, but what I find incredible is the statement from the authorities that this is not considered a terrorist attack.
It would seem that they don’t know who is flying the drones.
This has cost millions of pounds.
It has shown that despite the technology that is touted as being able to track a mobile phone or pin point a matchbox from space; a fairly large object flown by remote control can cripple an airport, and the police and now army stand by helpless.
The concept of economic terrorism obviously hasn’t been understood.
Apparently it needs to go BANG in order to be considered a terrorist action.

I am gobsmacked this was not nipped in the bud. Another reason for us being a laughing stock on top of Brexit.

The latest theory (on Radio 4) is that it was multiple drones, pre-programmed so there would be no radio signal that could be blocked by the usual means.

Mention that it could be environmental activist(s)...but no concrete intelligence.

why couldn't they just shoot it or them down? you would assume that among the parts there would be serial numbers or such like to track where it was manufactured/purchased.

What exactly do you suggest they use to shoot it down?
