As I said Socialism has come to mean left, but remember the word is rooted in the word social which is neither left or right.

The word is rooted in social, but thats not its entire meaning, in the same way peodphile and pediatrics are rooted in the same word, but that doesn't make them equal.

Time and convention and usage creates it. Originally Socialism could mean left or right as with as I explained National Socialism. The Italian invention of Fascism started left and went right, too many presumptions are made.

Maybe, but then again the terms left or right didn't have the meaning they have now in 1912, so to try and linking right (now) with Socialist (1912) isn't valid. Agrreed that terms change, but in this case the one that is changed is not Socialism. When the Nazi party became fascist they ceased to be socialist no matter what they chose to call them-self.

And yet that doesn't stop the fekkin' morons on Twatter and Farcebook banging on about how the "Nazis were socialists," because they were the "National Socialist Party."

Don't you hate it when people either choose which bits of history to regurgitate, or simply can't be bothered to learn about history at all? Perfect example - Tommy Robinson supporters chanting "Trump, Trump, Trump," "Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, Robinson," and shouting "Paedophile" over and over, whilst ransacking a central London 'socialist' bookshop in the name of free speech.

Socialism was just a word that the Nazi's used as a weapon to whip up support amongst the masses. As soon as it became irrelevant they dispensed with it. At no time were they actually Socialists.

only idiots become obsessed with the name. it deosnt matter what you call them they are distinct philosphies and ways of living. one is glorious one is moronic, eveil, self serving and perverse.

Unfortunately, that's quite often the extremists' target demographic.

Using single words to distort reality goes beyond the nonsensical. Both main US parties would be easily condemned as Kim dynasty fans by pointing out that the main elements of their party names are in "Democratic People's Republic of Korea". Right and left political stances are not governed by the use of certain words.

Actually 'Socialism' is a fairly strictly defined economic model. Don't let that spoil the rhetoric though.
