Re: Site configuration changes
We will know when the spiders are being shown as crawling us again. The only one that has been with us all along is Baidu, why should that be. We must be famous in China, they are the only ones that know about us.

Re: Site configuration changes
If, as we suspect, it is a server configuration issue then it might suggest that some bots request fewer permissions - hence, Baidu, Exabot and Alexa are still crawling.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 2:50 pm We will know when the spiders are being shown as crawling us again. The work we've done this weekend has narrowed the possibilities down...and had some other positive side-effects for response times.

the bots are back, the bots are back and I have spiders on the crawl in my computer - oh happy days
THOUGH they seem not to be getting past the start page.

Re: Site configuration changes
That will change when Google re-indexes the site. We have set that process in motion...Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 6:23 pm THOUGH they seem not to be getting past the start page.

Re: Site configuration changes
New Search Engine 'Site Title' & 'Description' implemented:
HiFi Subjectivist ¦ Audio Forum ¦ Richard Dunn NVA
Audiophile discussion, articles, bake-offs, Doc-Mods, music. NVA reviews, loan scheme, orders & support. Phono stages, amplifiers, semi-omni speakers, cables, headphone amps, digital, vinyl. 'Elsewhere on the Web' - the forum they tried to ban!
We can tweak these at any time, based on how they perform in search results...

Re: Site configuration changes
The major software upgrade that Terry did last November, along with the move to https, plus the settings / configuration improvements that we did over the last few weeks and this weekend have resulted in us being in a significantly improved position.
We now have up-to-date and supported software across the whole board, clean code and configuration, and a more secure site.
We will see the benefits in faster response times, reduced errors and greatly increased visibility in Google search results (this last benefit will take a couple of weeks to kick in properly but we are already seeing improvements this morning - I will update on a separate thread).
Terry has done a significant amount of work. Next time you see him, buy him a beer...

Re: Site configuration changes
