Rather you than me, you have my sympathies, but don't always blame lorry drivers. Many have a lot to put up with, car drivers not knowing how to drive for one.

There has been a similar incident involving an overturned lorry on another stretch of the M5 this morning. The was a popular topic of conversation where I used to work. People often came in hours late as a result and the consensus was that the company employing the lorry driver should be liable.

I would agree if it is proved to be the lorry drivers fault.

Some years ago Volvo suggested replacing the driver's airbag with a spike. They thought that the certainty that the driver wouldn't survive an accident would improve road safety.

Getting delayed by 5 hours once per year due to an accident isn't so bad.

Getting delayed 30 to 45 minutes twice every working day due to ongoing roadworks / motorway junctions that were stupidly designed in the first place is more annoying.

There are too many cars on the roads and too many humans on the planet. Don't expect it to get better.

We don't invest enough in our infrastructure. Roads, rail, Internet, housing. All well behind much of the rest of Europe. We prefer to cut corporation tax from 30% to 17%...

Investment in the rail infrastructure would take freight off the roads.

To some extent...but we are now at the stage where we urgently need investment in both
