It demonstrates the folly of yer Tories, the vanity of those who think we live in their colonial past. We should have it but with the ego fool in charge heaven knows what a mess UK will be from now on. Certainly not a roaring success for the average citizen, farmer, fisher of steel worker. Wake up UK

(and yes, I'm aware of the "divorce bill" but if they want any of that they're going to have to play ball aren't they !).

And Fuk the divorce bill, they can bloody whistle for it.

Watched the Tonight programme on ITV from a couple of weeks back. The amount of deception by HS2 Ltd highlighted on there is astonishing. A block of flats in London valued at a couple of hundred pounds just to keep the estimated costs down. Many more stories like that . We have been lied to. Is no one or any organisation (even the government) to be trusted these days ? Is anyone held accountable ? Are they fook.

Farm land value is at an all time high. £7,000 to £10,000 per acre is common. Back in 2000 the value was roughly £3,000 per acre. Compulsory purchase valuation must be at market prices not some grossly reduced amount just to keep costs down and to help sell the idea to MP's and the public.

A good article on the Sky News website this morning about Government lies about Brexit and how they go about it.

Just had a letter through from HS2. Work on the western leg of the line is carrying on. But then they say "The Government has asked HS2 Ltd to pause work on the Eastern leg".

Well what is really going on here ? There are plans for an integrated rail plan for the North so maybe they are looking at HS3 Liverpool to Hull ? Or some other reworking. Or is the estimated cost (already over £100 billion) ballooning so much that they are thinking of scaling it down ?

Covid has brought many changes. A huge cost to the nation and people have realised that working from home is a real possibility and so this project is no longer viable. But then gov say we need to spend our way out of this crisis. Their mates in construction are probably insisting it happens - jobs for the boys and a healthy pay cheque for the already over wealthy.

More HS2 news :dance: The Eastern leg (past my house) is looking increasingly like it will be shelved :guiness; :guiness; A report by National Infrastructure Commission says there isn't enough money to complete all the planned rail works and that the money would be better spent on connecting the cities in the Northern powerhouse.

That will be a few ancient woodlands and wildlife habitat saved from the bulldozer. Gonna pave over paradise and put up a parking lot. Not if I have owt to do with it. I would be much happier if the whole thing was scrapped but this is better than nothing, something worth drinking to :guiness; :guiness; :guiness;

I think Covid will change things permenantly with technology replacing commuting to a significant extent, hence less justification for HS2.

It's a huge expensive con with one purpose - to make a lot of Tories more wealthy than they already are. It should be scrapped but I don't think the Tory donor's like Mr JCB will allow that so it might end up on Starmers to do list at some point in the future
