Re: New Computer Problems - HELP!
Windows stopped full support for Windows 7 at end of October though you still get updates. You can't buy a new retail or even OEM copy of Win 7 officially. Manufacturers can't supply computers with it from this month. So realistic options are 8.1 or 10 unless you have an old licence or buy a used machine. I'm sure OEM copies will be circulating for a while however.

Here is a link that should solve your ad problems. I don't get issues on mine so I must have got the settings right when upgrading from 8.1.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:I still prefer Windows 7

Re: New Computer Problems - HELP!
I have solved it by not buying or downloading anything from the Microsoft shop, bastards - FREE - yes at the expense of permanent irritation.

Nope the programs I have tried are horrible. I want a free one I can play against people on line, because I am a bit of a backgammon wizz.

Re: New Computer Problems - HELP!
Or do you have an iPad?
Theres loads of decent online iOS backgammon games, either for free or for a small initial cost (£2.99) where you can play online against other people without being bombarded with ads.
The only problem with free games is that most are "freemium" with the option to "upgrade" for better features or the dreaded adverts.
When i'm not pratting around with Hi-Fi or working i'm gaming on ipad/iphone/PS4 or mac and have been doing such since the Sinclair ZX81 days.

Paid up apps (games) are the least frustrating and generally give the best experience imo.
