The public seems to spend little effort in thinking about the long term. In this day of Twitter, Facebook, and Snap Chat, instant gratification is the norm. What happens 5 years down the road is never important, and what happened 5 years ago is largely forgotten. Suppose there is any chance that the politicians will look to stretch out the exit process so long that people basically lose their fire and enthusiasm for the whole thing. That its easy to forget about it, grumble a bit, and say well it was a nice idea. That the whole thing fades away, and that the politicians will say oh so much has changed since the vote that its really not relevant anymore?Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Don't you believe it Jammy, it is politics, it can change in a week.
Political truth
It will not be kicked into the tall grass, means, it will be kicked into the tall grass, otherwise they would have said nothing. They only say something because they think they have to. AND only say enough platitudes to make people leave them along to be the greedy wankers they are.
PS Jammy one of the worst offender who have and are playing this game with you all the time are the Scottish Nationalists.

Aye ive gone right off the Fish wife.....
She screams for an independent Scotland to rule itself.
Yet if she got it, would drag us all back into the EU to be ruled by Brussels...WTF
Things have changed now somewhat, I dont think the majority of Scots want another independence referendum, and if we were to have one, I think the majority would now wish to remain part of the UK.

Source BBC website.
MPs are to debate a public petition calling for a re-run of the EU referendum which has attracted more than four million signatures. The petition calls for June's Leave vote to be restaged since neither side won more than 60% of the vote in the poll and turnout was below 75%.

They are obliged to but May has said it won't happen, Brexit is Brexit etc, etc, let's just see if she's as big a liar as the rest of them.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Source BBC website.

They have to follow the rules for a mass petition, meaning that it must be at least discussed in a parliamentary sitting.

It wont happen because in reality it is in no ones (powers that be) interest for it to happen. But I think events will still over take it to make it largely irrelevant.

Re: Do you brexit voters think it will still happen
Merkel's popularity appears to be waning and there are major elections also coming in France and Holland, both with a populist right-wing, anti EU party gaining support.
Could be a big change on the way. Certainly if Merkel goes.
