I had a pet Preying Mantis when I was a kid.......
One evil insect.......He would try and launch himself at my nose every time I opened the tank lid to feed him. :snooty:

As a pet you say? Seems quite unusual. I lived in Eastern Washington state the last 25 years or so, and it is a dry high desert country. We had a lot of Mantis there, but they would only make it till late October then die. How long did you keep yours? They are an unusual creature, in that they seem to be able to watch and track your movements. Yet with the size difference between them and a person, it must be the equivalent of watching a mountain decide to become ambulatory.
